It’s expansion time for the Burgerlords crew, as the Chinatown beef and bun staple stretches into Highland Park next. Eater has learned that, starting January 16, the team will be on-site at The Hi Hat on York for dinner service.
First, and to get this out of the way, that does not mean that Belle’s Bagels is out of a window. In fact, the indie bagel makers just re-upped for another six months at the AM walk-up space in front of Hi Hat and have plans to expand, so they’re not going anywhere.
Instead, the Burgerlords crew will operate the Charles Staunton-designed space in the evenings, keeping hours from Sunday through Thursday, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with an extension on Friday and Saturday night until midnight. The opening party on Monday, January 16 will run 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with beer, pool, and DJs inside.
In the meantime, Chinatown continues to crank along for the team. They’ve actually even signed a lease to expand their footprint in the area, and hope to bring a new concept to Chinatown (it’s not just going to be another Burgerlords) soon. They’re also continuing their Burger Merger series in collaboration with chefs and restaurants around town, including January’s tie-in with Frogtown’s Wax Paper Co. The sandwich makers will be doing a duo of burgers (one vegan) starting this Friday and running through that Sunday for both lunch and dinner.
