The beach scene is booming lately, thanks in no small part to a cadre of keen-eyed folks working relatable concepts (at workable price points) out near the ocean. Among them is the brand spankin’ new Laurel Tavern, which only just officially arrived in Hermosa Beach.

Plans for the place have been in the works for quite a while, as the ACME Hospitality Group first sought to expand their brand from the Valley to the South Bay early in the summer. The former Game Changer’s sports bar is now completely transformed, becoming a brick-walled, dark wood haven for casual pub grub and a full slate of cocktails. The full opening menu set is below.

The arrival of the easygoing Laurel Tavern further helps solidify the South Bay as a destination for casual fare at workable price points. Places like Suburbia continue to pack it to the rafters nightly, while others like Love & Salt and The Arthur J offer a more upscaled experience that still caters to the active diners in the area. In short, it’s a great time to be eating in the South Bay.

Hours for Laurel Tavern in Hermosa Beach run 5 p.m. to midnight daily, with delivery on the horizon soon as well.
