One of Malibu’s Most Picturesque Restaurants Expands to Orange County

Malibu Farm grows

Popular oceanside restaurant Malibu Farm is expanding to Orange County. The restaurant will grow to include another new (and still very water-friendly) location at Lido Marina Village in Newport Beach, with a planned opening slated for sometime next spring.

The new restaurant should help to anchor Lido Marina, which has become a reborn hotbed of eating activity of late. Expect an indoor-outdoor space that covers more than 2,750 square feet, with the same California casual menu as can be currently found from the namesake location up the coast.

Beer is here to stay

Another year, another slew of local awards coming out of Great American Beer Fest. Los Angeles took home a ton of hardware for its still-booming beer scene, says the LA Times, including wins by some big names like Three Weavers.

Almost ice cream time

Bengee’s Ice Cream is almost ready for its big Echo Park reveal at the Mohawk Collective compound on Sunset Boulevard. The place has one location already in Pasadena and is known mostly for its innovative ice cream sandwiches, but will now add regular scoops and cones to the already-busy Eastside scene.

Great Maple, revealed

Pasadena restaurant Great Maple has officially arrived. The restaurant quietly began serving last week, and is now fully formed on its way to becoming a new kind of upscale American chain.

Happy hour, commence

Pasadena’s Bone Kettle restaurant is launching a new two-hour weekday happy hour session. The 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. timeline lets customers dive into oysters, sambal chicken wings, mapo tofu fries, and drinks of course.

No more Mr. Holmes in Orange County

The Union Market Tustin location of Mr. Holmes Bakehouse is no more. The small stand apparently wasn’t functional enough to service all the customers Mr. Holmes is trying to reach, so the plan now is to start looking for a more permanent location elsewhere in Orange County.

Back to meat basics

Following on the heels of a very successful first outing, Maple Block is throwing another all-you-can-handle barbecue event this Sunday. The block party-style affair will offer two sessions, one midday and another in the afternoon, for folks willing to plunk down $55 for unlimited smoked meat, family-friendly fun, and live music.
