Keeping it close
With big, national expansion plans firmly in its sights, it’s nice to see Los Angeles mini-chain Locali still hasn’t forgotten about its hometown. Ownership is actually just about to launch its fourth LA-area location (this time in West Hollywood) as it continues to seek franchisees for opportunities domestically and abroad. This latest Locali will drop at 8730 Santa Monica Boulevard on Monday with a big open house party and giveaway coming November 16 that includes free food and swag bags for the first 100 people in attendance.
Craft beer giveback
The fine folks over at Food GPS have collected together a number of the craft beer industry’s giveback efforts relating to California’s wildfires, the recent slate of hurricanes across the east and south, and just about everything else. It’s a handy list for anyone interested in doing more while still drinking well.
More for the morning
Those Morning Boys kolaches are coming to a new slate of coffee shops soon. After an extended pop-up at places like Cafe Demitasse, the team is now jumping in at Cafe de Leche in Highland Park, and Caffe Vita on Sunset Blvd.
Happy hour in the ocean
There’s a great new happy hour coming to Pasadena soon. It’s going down at Lost at Sea on Holly Street, and includes dishes like a prawn ceviche, fried oysters, and half-off glasses of wine. Hours run 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
The Hart and Hunter hits new highs
Long-running Melrose restaurant The Hart & The Hunter is turning on the lights to a few new menu items soon, specifically for their dinner sessions. More importantly though, the Palihotel itself is adding a little cocktail nook right off the main lobby called The Hart Throb Bar. There guests can find mostly spritzers and slushies, available Saturday and Sunday only from 11 a.m .to 6 p.m.
Doma Kitchen day
Doma Kitchen turns one today at their Marina Del Rey location. To celebrate, the restaurant is doing a bunch of live entertainment and free birthday cake for all who attend, as well as dinner specials and a bunch of other fun surprises.
The Eastside Food Festival arrives
Here’s the final lineup for this year’s Eastside Food Festival, going down on Sunday in Silver Lake. Tickets are still available at least through tomorrow, too.
