Standing Egg Coffee Wobbles Into the Silver Lake Caffeine Scene

Another wifi-enabled shop for the laptop masses

Standing Egg Coffee, Silver Lake

Silver Lake’s notoriously vast coffee scene gets a quiet new entrant this week, as Standing Egg Coffee comes to a quirky strip mall at the corner of Rowena and Hyperion.

There’s not much online at the moment regarding Standing Egg, and that’s largely by design. The two-day-old shop’s owner says they’re mostly working to serve the immediate neighborhood right now, keeping long daily hours, a compact menu of mostly espresso drinks, and offering wifi. The shop has ties to the Andante world of coffee bars, and is using the same beans as Andante for its drinks. A copy of the menu is below.

The space itself is rather spare, a grey box with a tiny TV on the wall showing, oddly, security footage. A couple of tables run along the righthand wall and there’s bar seating up front, but otherwise the room lacks much in the way of art or style. Hours for Standing Egg Coffee currently run 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
