Brooklyn’s Ample Hills Drives Up the Ice Cream Market in Busy Los Feliz

Yep, Los Feliz is getting even more ice cream

There’s even more ice cream coming to Los Feliz next year, thanks to the folks of Ample Hills Creamery out of Brooklyn. The popular East Coast chain previously announced plans to jump to the West Coast with a new outlet, and Eater has learned exclusively that the company will land on Hillhurst Avenue in Los Feliz, in what may well be the densest ice cream neighborhood in America.

The good news is that Ample Hills isn’t just moving into any old space — they’re taking over the former doctor’s office Craftsman home at the corner of Hillhurst and Russell. The gorgeous property has long stood out on that busy stretch, and was for a time thought to possibly have a different restaurant in the works. Now Ample Hills has confirmed to Eater their arrival at the address, with an opening to happen next year, likely in the summer.

The only real issue with the new Ample Hills location is saturation. Just up the street is the first Los Angeles location of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, while McConnell’s is down around the corner. Churro Borough continues to churn along on Vermont as well, while Magpies Softserve in Silver Lake is rather close as well. That’s to say nothing of the incoming Smitten Ice Cream on Sunset, and a newcomer named Butter’s landing basically across the street from that. In short, it’s ice cream mania on LA’s Eastside.
