Echo park’s Eightfold Coffee is upping their cafe game with the addition of a food menu. The Eastside minimalist spot’s menu was designed by Francis Bassa, the former chef de cuisine at Alma Downtown and Alma at the Standard.
Bassa’s incoming menu opts for simplicity, with items like a brioche omelette breakfast sandwich, a bánh mì-inspired toasted farro grain bowl, and chia pudding. It’s simple fare that doesn’t require a full kitchen build-out to execute, like the bar bites at popular Thai Town space Tabula Rasa.
Eightfold’s new menu also appears to be a strategic move to keep wooing customers, and with good reason considering Echo Park is already bursting with cafes. Less than a mile away, Triniti will serve coffee and small plates when opening later this month. Then there’s Pollen, the upcoming Australian cafe which plans to serve breakfast and lunch, and opening soon is Hey Hey is a specialty tea shop.
Food is served at Eightfold Coffee from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, with daily coffee hours running from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
