Last week on November 23 a man entered the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and stole two kitchen knives from one of the hotel’s restaurants before going into the street and stabbing a bystander, reports CBS LA. The suspect was later detained by the police.

According to the police, the suspect was initially seen making swinging motions with a screwdriver before entering a hotel restaurant and taking two chef’s knives. It’s unclear which restaurant inside the hotel he entered, but it’s most likely 25 Degrees, which is located on the street level. Public Kitchen is located upstairs.

After the suspect stole the two kitchen knives, he stabbed an innocent bystander on the street once in the side of the body around 6:45 p.m. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, but CBS could not report on the pedestrian’s condition. Last year two women were stabbed inside Echo Park’s Gold Room bar while earlier this year an attacker stabbed three people at a Hollywood Jack in the Box restaurant.
