Genwa Korean Barbecue plans to open a third location in Downtown’s South Park district in 2018. The original Genwa opened in Mid-Wilshire in 2008, with a second in 2013 along La Cienega’s Restaurant Row.

First reported by Brigham Yen, Genwa recently signed a lease at the 1000 Grand by Windsor building on Grand and Olympic. The approximately 5,000 square foot restaurant will be right next door to the expanding mid-west chain Pizza Fire.

Genwa’s locations are usually packed, with visitors like Katy Perry and Jackie Chan. More important than the celeb cred, Genwa appears on Eater’s LA's Finest Korean Barbecue Restaurants map.

The South Park area remained undeveloped for years, while just north is still in the midst of continuous growth. According to Yen, the influx of businesses like Genwa and Pizza Fire are part of, “a growing list of new businesses that are helping to shape the fledgling urban community into one of Downtown LA’s most exciting neighborhoods.”
