Oakland-based Bicycle Coffee will open a cafe and roastery in Little Tokyo in early 2018. The historic Brunswig Square building is a creative office and retail building on the corner of 2nd Street and Central Avenue. This is not the company’s first location in Los Angeles, as Bicycle Coffee opened an East Hollywood roastery on Santa Monica Boulevard and Western in 2015.

Bicycle Coffee offers a unique service in addition to cafes and preparing organic beans: they deliver to customers via custom bike trailer. The Little Tokyo store will be Bicycle Coffee’s fourth location to date, after East Hollywood, Tokyo, and Oakland. Matthew and Cameron McKee, and their cousin, Brad Butler opened Bicycle Coffee in Oakland in 2009.

The towering, brown Brunswig Square building was built in 1931, and sold in 2015. Remaining establishments include: Hakata Ikkousha Ramen, Wolf & Crane, Ebisu Sushi, and Tenno Sushi.
