H Coffee House on Hillhurst closes today in preparation of a rapid changeover, while they prepare to launch their new restaurant called Guest House. Owners Aram and Rose Serobian will close the space for three to four weeks. The Serobians also own both HOME restaurants in Los Feliz and Silver Lake.
Once complete, Guest House will feature a menu that is all about communal plates, with an emphasis on cocktails and coffee. For those used to getting their caffeine at H Coffee, HOME is right next door, and been open for business since 1997.
The Serobians took a year to convert the craftsman bungalow into a coffee and juice-focused cafe with outdoor seating, and the unique addition of booths. The 2014 opening of H Coffee House seemed strategic, conceivably as competition to the popular Alcove, which sits less than four blocks north. Guest House should open their doors in January 2018.
