Longstanding oceanside cafe On the Waterfront is no more. The 23-year-old eatery shuttered earlier this month, but there are already plans to revive the space.
On the Waterfront was for decades a casual hang for locals and tourists alike, with plenty of bike parking and a front patio that offers lots of room to catch the scenery (and the people) happening beyond. A note from ownership posted to Facebook reads:
A huge shout out to our loyal patrons! We truly appreciate your friendships knowing of all the choices you have, you chose us. It has been our great pleasure serving you throughout these past 23 years.
As for any changes, new ownership says they will likely keep the name and at least some of the menu items and feel of the place. They’re the folks behind The Butcher’s Daughter, with locations in Los Angeles (including a food truck) and New York City, and they confirmed that On the Waterfront will have a different look and vibe than their current slate of places. Expect a reopening sometime in early-to-mid 2018.
