Argument at Monrovia Bar Escalates to Shooting With One Dead, Two Injured

A shooting went down at a a busy Monrovia bar Friday night, with three men shot by an assailant that remains at large. One victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital, with the others expected to survive. The Gem City Grill is a local bar on Olive Avenue and Myrtle Boulevard in Monrovia.

According to CBS Los Angeles, a group of men came into the bar and started an argument with a group of patrons which escalated into a fight. One of the newcomers pulled a gun and shot three three men. The suspects immediately fled the scene. The men were taken to a local hospital, where a 43-year-old unnamed man was pronounced dead. The surviving victims are 24-years-old.

Witnesses said that the band was playing at midnight when the shooting began, and patrons fled to adjacent businesses and residences for safety. Investigators shared that two men were arrested in association with the shooting, but the gunman remains at large.
