Los Angeles is just about ready to receive its first Milk Bar, the nationally-beloved confection shop run by Christina Tosi. But before the early 2018 arrival gets here, Tosi and her team are slated to make a couple of high-profile appearances around town.
The first stop for the Milk Bar crew is at Jon & Vinny’s on Fairfax. They’re billing it as the official LA debut of all things Milk Bar, and will be selling a variety of best-sellers: cookies, crack pie, and the like. Better still, the whole thing is set up to be a kind of semi-secretive backyard party, so beyond the bake sale there will also be games and music and stuff, and the first 50 people in line will get a Milk Bar tote. Hours for the Friday, December 15 event run from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., or until everything sells out.
Then on Sunday, December 17, Milk Bar will be teaming up with the roving NoMad Truck at Downtown’s Smorgasburg LA for one day only. That runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with another full slate of sweet treats for purchase. Included in the lineup will be holiday cookie tins, whole crack pie for takeaway, Milk Bar merch, and the company’s famous cereal milk soft serve, available from the truck. And much like the previous event, the first 50 guests in line will get a free bite from Tosi and co.
Christina Tosi herself will be on hand for both. And as for the actual full storefront opening on Melrose, expect something in the first half of 2018.
