It’s about to be last call at Bar Moruno inside Grand Central Market, as owners David Rosoff and Chris Feldmeier plan to close the stall this coming Sunday. The news was first reported by the LA Times.
Rosoff and Feldmeier had big plans for the Moruno brand after branching out from their longtime home at Mozza. The restaurant initially opened as a full-fledged sit-down experience (following some takeout window business) over at the Original Farmers Market, but the corner location with its entrance outside the market proper has proven a tough sell to tourists in the area.
Next up was the casual Bar Moruno inside Downtown’s Grand Central Market, which ran concurrently with the original until the sit-down restaurant closed in October. Build-out at the second location (and a pending ABC license) kept the stall at bay for a bit, but with a fully active beer and wine license now things were thought to be going well. Not so, it seems, as Rosoff and Feldmeier say they plan to turn off the lights by the weekend. The pair sends along the following note:
"We wanted to share the news that Bar Moruno, at Grand Central Market will be closing Sunday, February 26th. David Rosoff and Chris Feldmeier are enormously grateful for the support and kindness shown them by the community over the past year.”
Last call for Bar Moruno at Grand Central Market is this Sunday.
