Don’t hold your breath

If you, like the rest of Los Angeles, have been waiting patiently for the rise of Eataly at the growing Westfield Century City, bad news: You’re going to be waiting for some time still. Per the below Twitter shot from co-owner Lidia Bastianich, there is still plenty of work to be done inside, like making the walls.

Now granted, its not entirely clear when this photo was taken, only when it was posted. And with a ton of resources being thrown at the project, Eataly is probably moving faster than other build-outs around town. But still, folks have been eagerly anticipating this one for quite some time now, and with so much square footage to cover there’s no way it’s an easy turnaround from the below image to final detail work. Of course, Eataly has always been slated for a 2017 debut, but it’s best at this point not to expect anything until the tail end of this year — just in time for the still-under-construction Westfield mall to hopefully get back to normal, too.

Party at Harvard & Stone

It’s the six year anniversary of Harvard & Stone (if you can believe it), so to celebrate tonight the bar is doing live music, an open bar, and a ton of great DJs, plus tacos for all.

It’s on at Garcons

Downtown’s Garcons de Cafe has hit the one year mark, which means they’re doing all sorts of fun stuff like a raffle for great prizes, live music, and more, starting tomorrow and running through the end of the week.

Paley turns one

It’s the first anniversary for Paley in Hollywood too, but don’t expect anything too flashy. Despite the glamorous digs, the place is keeping it low key with a simple birthday cake dessert for anyone who comes in.

We are celebrating our birthday later this month. Which means cake for everyone #cakecakecake #birthday

Barbecue happy hour

Maple Block Meat Co. is doing a new happy hour, running Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. You can get brisket grilled cheese sandwiches for $6, brisket nachos for $7, and $4 Shiner Bocks.

Get Golden

It’s anniversary time at Golden State, the long-running Fairfax option. To celebrate their 8th birthday, the restaurant is doing fun stuff all week: Modern Times takes over the taps tonight, dine-in burgers are $8 all day Tuesday, and all week long they’ll be doing an Instagram post contest where someone can win a burger a week for a year.

A visit to know

Italian chef Nicola Conte is visiting the Beverly Hills restaurant Nerano this month, bringing with him some Puglia flavors and menu updates. He’s partnering with executive chef Michele Lisi from now until the end of March.

Your next shabu shabu situation

Brea’s got a new spot called HaiDiLao Fusion Shabu to know about. The restaurant is upscaling the shabu shabu look with wine, craft beer, sake, and premium meats. Hours run daily from 11:30 a.m. on at 1065 Brea Mall 1031A, Brea, CA.
