If you’ve driven past the long-awaited Pace Joint lately, you might notice the place is now up and running. The casual extension of Laurel Canyon hideaway restaurant Pace, this Joint is an easygoing option for pizza and pasta mostly, with a prime back patio and some expansion plans down the line.
Namely, the folks behind Pace Joint are in the process of jumping into the attached space — a former wellness shop — to offer a marketplace of sorts, complete with takeaway food and drink items. That timeline is still a ways off though, but you can step into Pace Joint proper during their daily hours from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Pace Joint joins a number of similarly-minded casual operations around town, with chefs and restaurateurs jumping into the lower-overhead market as a way to help defray the costs of their more expensive sit-down restaurants. That’s a version of what happened with Knead & Co. at Grand Central Market, which comes by way of Pasadena’s Union team, and in some ways what has happened with Kismet and Madcapra there as well. The expansion allows for growth, and helps keep everyone just as happy. Add in the revamp of the nearby Acabar space down Sunset Boulevard, and suddenly that strip is looking to get a little more lively.
