Instagram has become a great tool these days, not only for food blogger-types to share myriad overhead shots in well-lit restaurant settings, but also for chefs to share the behind-the-scenes of it all. We here at Eater LA practiced our best stalking skills to find the best LA-based chef Instagram accounts, with some familiar names and under-the-radar picks.
Mei Lin
This globetrotting Top Chef winner has an account full of gorgeous food photos, both of her own dishes and highlights from her travels. Look out for uni bumps and #tbts with Oprah.
Baroo
Though technically the restaurant page for Bon Appetit’s fifth best new restaurant of the year, Baroo’s instagram account feels like a beautiful food diary of chef Kwang Uh. Go behind the scenes of the chef’s R & D, travels, and family meals.
Garry Larduinat
You may already follow chef Garry Larduinat on Instagram, as the executive pastry chef of the Hotel Bel Air already has a nearly 200k followers. It’s no surprise, as anyone with a sweet tooth would be wise to follow his stunning creations.
Jeremy Fox
The Rustic Canyon chef has truly embraced Instagram as a way to share not only the dishes at his own restaurant, but also his extensive visits to new restaurants around the city. Kudos for embracing the new slideshow feature.
Noel Brohner
The under-the-radar chef behind some of your favorite pizzas, this bread whisperer helps chefs around town perfect their crusts, including Evan Funke at Felix. The perfect page for those who like a good #crumbshot now and again.
Jessica Koslow
Want to see what life is like for the woman behind the world’s most famous toast? Jessica Koslow’s @prosciuttosnacks page proves that the chef ingests everything from Costco-brand light beer to “flaky ass” biscuits.
Alex Jermasek
Do you absolutely love meat? Former Gwen butcher Alex Jermasek has a jaw dropping account full of carnivorous pleasures. Vegetarians beware.
Miles Thompson
Can’t decide what to eat for dinner tonight? The chef responsible for once again making Michael’s Santa Monica an exciting place to dine has an Instagram full of dishes he’s worked on for the longstanding restaurant, and will have you clamoring for a reservation.
Maycoll Calderon
While not technically an LA chef yet, the executive chef of popular Mexico City restaurant Huset is coming to our city soon, with a Silver Lake restaurant coming later this year. Get a taste of his vibrant style on his drool-worthy page.
Kris Tominaga
While the chef of Mardi and The Hart and The Hunter does have a professional account, @chefkristominaga, we prefer his personal one, where you can see Tominaga playing around in the kitchen and with different cameras.
