Pizzana Slices Into Brentwood With True Wood-Fired Italian Pies

Opening Friday for all your pizza needs

It’s time for a pizza party in Brentwood, as new quasi-Neapolitan-style spot Pizzana opens officially this Friday. The restaurant is the work of Candace and Charles Nelson, the couple most famous for founding Sprinkles Cupcakes, and hope to remake the casual dining scene for the neighborhood.

Step inside the sleek new space for a look at what’s possible. There’s the long marble counter looking in on the open kitchen with its Italian-made wood-burning oven, the long, low run of dark blue booths anchoring both sides of the narrow space. The room is tall and bright, and there’s even room to linger up at the front.

On the food front, expect pies from Naples-born chef Daniele Uditi. He’s tossing a 48-hour fermented dough and throwing on San Marzano tomatoes direct from Italy, while Candace Nelson will be overseeing the dessert menu (no cupcakes, unfortunately), all of which can be seen below. Beer and wine come with the territory here.

Pizzana officially opens for business on Friday, keeping hours Sunday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., with an extension to 11 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
