Fine Dining Bastion Patina Has a New Executive Chef Behind the Stoves

Andreas Roller takes the reins of Patina Group’s flagship restaurant

One of Los Angeles’s last fine dining bastions, Patina, has yet again changed the executive chef at the helm of the Walt Disney Concert Hall restaurant. Today, Patina Restaurant Group founder Joachim Splichal announced that chef Andreas Roller will take charge of the elegant tasting menu flagship.

Roller was most recently the executive chef of PRG’s Nick + Stef’s steakhouse. Before that, the German-born chef cut his teeth both around the world and in Los Angeles, including a stint as sous chef at the original Patina on Melrose at the age of 23.

Roller takes the reins from former executive chef Paul Lee, who has moved to Asia in the hopes of opening his own restaurant. Before Lee, Charles Olalia, of the now highly decorated Rice Bar, served as executive chef.

Patina certainly likes to keep it all in the family, as replacing Roller at Nick + Stef’s is Megan Logan, who is reprising her former executive chef role at the steakhouse after a brief time at the helm of Café Pinot. The Los Angeles Public Library-adjacent café will be taken over by Viet Pham, who served as an opening chef of yet another PRG restaurant, Ray’s & Stark Bar at LACMA.

After being on the receiving end of a brutal smackdown by Besha Rodell at the end of last year, Patina certainly seems like it could benefit from a fresh set of eyes at one of LA’s last temples to haute cuisine.
