The countdown has started for Friends & Family, the hotly anticipated Thai Town restaurant from Roxana Jullapat and Daniel Mattern. The Hollywood Boulevard space has been papered over for quite some time, but an opening next month is likely.

That's welcome news for anyone even vaguely interested in breakfast, as Jullapat is among the best pastry chefs in the business. Add to that Daniel Mattern, who has had strong stints around town at places like the old Cooks County, and you’ve got a recipe for all-day dominance.

Indeed that’s the plan with Friends & Family, as Mattern and Jullapat look to tackle breakfast and lunch to start, with a future in the dinner game down the line. That will allow Jullapat to expand not just into the pastry and breads game, but also work with ice cream, specialty cakes, chocolate bars, and more. From there, Mattern will craft a slew of hot and cold sandwiches, plus the usual array of salads and soups and more.

Friends & Family will also offer a marketplace for the extra items being made on site, from granola to chocolate, as well as straight up products and cookbooks from elsewhere. No word on an official opening date just yet, but expect something next month for the 4,000 square foot open restaurant space.
