Plancha Tacos Confirms Next Location at Echo Park’s Coolest New Project

The casual Mexican favorite jumps into a third outlet

The next big storefront project to land in Los Angeles is Echo Park Village, a combination space that will offer everything from One Down Dog yoga to a bakery and cafe from Clark Street Bread. Now construction is about to get underway on another new tenant: Plancha Tacos.

For those unfamiliar, Plancha Tacos is a local outfit that started years ago with a space just off West Third Street. They have expanded over time to Venice Beach, but always kept the same plan: Serve straightforward tacos, burritos, and quesadillas, along with a prodigious vegetarian menu that includes bowls and salads. It’s a casual mix of familiar Mexican favorites and healthier dining choices all under one unassuming roof.

An email to the Plancha team confirms that they will be opening sometime in early 2018, though they won’t actually get keys to the space until later this year. Until then the developers will continue on site, building out the raw spaces to fit everyone’s individual needs. When all is said and done, the project wedged between Historic Filipinotown and Echo Park should become a sort of mini restaurant row, with options at least as enticing as Mohawk Collective not far up the street.
