Southern California dessert hit Afters Ice Cream keeps on rolling, landing next in Highland Park. An email in to the company confirms their upcoming location on Figueroa, with a projected late-summer opening likely.

Afters Ice Cream is perhaps best known as one of a number of very Instagrammable second-wave shops to hit Los Angeles and surrounding areas of late, but with the unique distinction of also stuffing their ice cream into delicious milk buns as a sort of ice cream sandwich/ice cream doughnut hybrid. The team has parlayed their pared-down aesthetics and interesting menu into shops all over the Southland, from Riverside to Fullerton to Irvine, Rowland Heights, and Long Beach. Their Pasadena location exists inside a rebuilt former gas station, and has become one of the more popular in the chain.

This new Highland Park address will offer 1,200 square feet of long, narrow space, and they have plans to keep it bright by adding lots of art and sunlight where they can. There’s no construction yet so don’t expect anything soon but an August or September arrival is likely, making that more northern stretch of Figueroa just the latest to be activated by names like Matt Molina and Go Get Em Tiger.
