Japanese restaurant group Shin-Sen-Gumi has added a new South Bay concept called Shin-Sen-Gumi 2GO in Torrance, but this one comes with a unique feature: a drive thru. That’s right, hungry diners can now get noodles, yakitori, ramen, and lots more straight from a drive thru window on their way home.
The decision to add a drive thru to this new location along Western Avenue has been known for some time, but the actual space officially opened on May 30. Since then, they’ve been pushing out everything from bento boxes and onigiri to ramen and udon. For breakfast (yes, they’re doing breakfast) one can find hot sandwiches like a Spam and egg burger with a griddled rice bun. An opening menu pulled from Yelp can be found below, but of course things are subject to change.
The jump into the drive thru market makes a lot of sense for Shin-Sen-Gumi, particularly if it’s located in the South Bay. It’s a fast, effective way to keep revenue up while still feeding the numerous diners that can sometimes accompany their restaurants. It’s why Republique added a coffee and pastry window, and why spots like the new Cosa Buona are set to do delivery. Plus, it’s pretty cool to be able to get a 7 a.m. Spam-and-rice burger or 9 p.m. bowl of ramen without leaving the car.
Hours for the new Shin-Sen-Gumi 2GO are 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily. Some items will still only be available from the inside of the restaurant, but otherwise feel free to drive past now and pick up anything on the menu.
