The Unstoppable Sweetfin Poke Empire Gobbles Up a Prime Silver Lake Spot

The sixth location takes over the former Knuckle & Claw

Sweetfin Poke

Apparently Los Angeles still isn’t at full poke capacity, as Sweetfin Poke, a hip Hawaiian-style raw fish specialist, will take over the former Knuckle & Claw location in Silver Lake. It will be the sixth location for the brand that first opened in Santa Monica in 2015 and has undergone a rapid expansion across Los Angeles.

The chain has Dakota Weiss as the culinary head of the operation focused on serving sustainable fish in creative preparations. It is likely that the Sunset Boulevard-facing space that once housed the relatively short-lived lobster roll specialist that closed at the end of last year will find a willing audience in the neighborhood.

But the greater question is how long can this poke craze last? With myriad brands opening outlets of the same build-your-own poke shop all over LA throughout 2015 and 2016, when is it enough? Sweetfin Silver Lake will open this July.
