It seems as though Victorville won't be the only upcoming California location of Cracker Barrel, as the Fresno Bee reported last month than an official lease had been signed for what should be the state's second location. What's more, reps for the national chain say construction efforts are officially underway for the first local-ish location off the 15 freeway in Victorville, CA, and an early 2018 arrival is likely.

The reveal of a second outlet to land in Fresno does come with a bit of speculation behind it. While the Bee claims to have spoken with realtors involved with the dealing the nearly 9,200 square foot property, it is Cracker Barrel corporate policy not to comment on locations until the permitting phase has been passed. Janella Escobar, Cracker Barrel's director of corporate communication, did pass along the following when pressed by Eater:

In general, California, with its large population and some of the country’s most popular routes for road trips, presents an especially exciting opportunity for us. And we’re always considering opportunities for new locations, but unfortunately we have no announcements to make at this time about Fresno.

As for Victorville, things are getting well underway for a spring 2018 arrival. That’s got nostalgic Cracker Barrel fans excited, considering the proximity to millions of people in the greater Southland (many of them transplants). Plus, they’ll be right off the road to Las Vegas and, possibly soon enough, a short enough detour off the 5 freeway north to San Francisco. Expect more California locations down the line as well, most likely.
