Glendale’s cozy Kenneth Village retail stretch is getting a new tenant this summer: Coffee Commissary. The local chain already has outlets everywhere from Burbank to West Hollywood to Culver City, and is now adding a tucked-away address north of the 134 freeway to its repertoire.

Owner Tyler King tells Eater that Coffee Commissary is taking over a large piece of real estate right along Kenneth Road, inside a former liquor store and deli. The expanded kitchen is ideal for the company’s ever-expanding push into the all-day food market (they for years just had food trucks park in front of their stores, including Eggslut in the early days). King says the space is some 3,500 square feet all in, so there’s room for the kitchen, a bakery, and the full cafe experience.

Build-out is currently underway for this latest Coffee Commissary, with a hopeful opening scheduled for July. That’s great news for the neighborhood north of the freeway but southeast of Burbank proper, considering how many of Glendale’s food and beverage options are clustered around streets like Brand and Colorado miles away. It also helps that Coffee Commissary has one of the best breakfast burritos anywhere in Los Angeles, of course.
