Someone wasn’t sifting through the produce haul at BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse in West Covina well enough recently, because a diner there managed to find a fully intact (but dead) frog in her Caesar salad. The Pasadena Star-News has details on the eye-raising incident, which occurred last week — and comes with a photo to prove it.
According to customer Shawna Cepeda, she was eating with her daughter and husband at the restaurant when she noticed something in her salad that didn’t quite look right. After moving some lettuce around the frog was revealed, at which point the family did the natural thing and screamed really loudly alerted staff, who disposed of the deceased amphibian (but not before a couple of photos were taken).
The Star-News confirmed the incident with the health department as well as BJ’s Chief Financial Officer, who said they would be conducting an internal investigation into the issue. As for Cepeda, she says she won’t be going back to the restaurant anymore.
