The Glendale outlet of Sprinkles Cupcakes was briefly closed after a passerby caught and uploaded footage of a large rodent crawling around inside the pastry case. The video first came to light on Saturday, says the Glendale News-Press, though it does not offer a date for when it was actually filmed.

Though it was apparently off-hours at the popular Sprinkles shop inside The Americana at Brand in Glendale, customers and Sprinkles corporate were obviously alarmed to find the footage. In a statement provided to the paper, a rep for the cupcake company noted that “an unfortunate set of circumstances, including a structural malfunction” ultimately allowed what appears to be a rat to infiltrate the restaurant’s display case. The video is below.

The Americana outlet of Sprinkles, including their round-the-clock cupcake ATM, was shut down over the weekend, but a call to the store today confirms that they have indeed reopened.
