Obsessed with restaurants? This is the gig for you

Eater Default

Are you obsessed with restaurants, chefs, news, gossip and all the fun drama that goes hand in hand with the high stakes Los Angeles restaurant world? Are you an ace reporter, who loves to uncover stories and trends via any means necessary? Do you love cold calling for quotes, maintaining a broad network of sources, searching public documents, and attending community meetings? Do you follow every chef and restaurateur on social media, trying to catch the first breaking news of an opening or new project?

If so, hit us up at la@eater.com and write us a paragraph about yourself (omitting stories of childhood food memories por favor) and a paragraph about why you think you're right for the job. You’re going to need a deep knowledge of the food scene, and have strong writing skills. Shooting good food and interior photography is a plus too, but not required.

If you just moved to LA from another city six months ago (or say, less than two years ago), you probably won’t have enough intel or connections to make the gig work. But, if you’re as consumed as we are about the LA restaurant universe and find yourself wondering why your byline isn’t here, please send an email.

Please also include a resume, and if available, links to a personal blog, Tumblr, Instagram, or Twitter, If we like what we see, we'll follow up quickly. FYI, this is a freelance position.
