The Dream Hollywood project is nearly complete in Hollywood, what with four things already rolling on the block with Tao, Beauty & Essex, Luchini Pizzeria, and Avenue nightclub. The final piece, The Highlight Room, is a new rooftop bar and lounge from the Tao Group slated to open next week on July 12 at the top of the Dream Hotel.
The massive 11,000 square foot area has a full view of Los Angeles, from the Hollywood Hills to the north, to Mid-City and Downtown, all the way out to the ocean on a clear day. Rooftop lounges seem to be all the rage in the past few years, with places like Filifera and Spire 73 being two of the more notable debuts in recent months. And restaurants like Catch seem to enjoy unparalleled popularity with the Hollywood crowd thanks to its rooftop perch.
The Highlight Room will have poolside cabanas for more private partying, with a full retractable roof in case the weather isn’t cooperative (which seems rare for LA). The place will be restricted to folks staying at the hotel during the day, at least during the week.
The place opens to the public starting at 6 p.m. nightly, and beginning at 1 p.m. on weekends. Dinner dishes include hamachi crudo with grapefruit ponzu to brick chicken with salsa verde. The fare is a bit of step up from more staid poolside dishes one normally finds in Los Angeles.
