In an effort to continue some unique summertime programming, Downtown open-air pop-up spot Smorgasburg is hosting their second-annual BBQ Day on Sunday, August 20.

The popular event returns from last year with a number of new hit vendors. Perhaps the biggest name among them at the moment is Moo’s Craft BBQ, an upstart East Los Angeles backyard option that has been quietly making beef ribs, brisket, and some amazing East LA-inspired sides for more than half a year. Low key operator Republic Craft Barbecue, who operates out of a commissary kitchen but does events at breweries across Los Angeles, will be joining them.

Rounding out the day is Bludso’s, which recently just launched a barbecue stall inside The Proud Bird near LAX, and Ol Skool BBQ. Weekly vendors like Stoked and Black Sugar Ribs will still be doing their thing as well, plus Ugly Drum has some of the best smoked meat (done pastrami-style) in the city. One missing name from the list La Barbecue, the award-winning Austin outfit that has been rumored to be attached to Smorgasburg for months now. They still haven’t confirmed a Los Angeles location, so in the meantime it’s up to Moo’s, Ugly Drum, and the rest of the team to carry the load.

Hours for Smorgasburg run 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the ongoing summertime ice cream alley series will be on property at ROW DTLA too, so it should make for a fun Sunday.
