Top Chef winner Brooke Williamson is expanding again, this time deeper into the dessert world. Her latest venture with partner Nick Roberts is Small Batch, a local ice cream shop that’s aiming to take up residence in Mar Vista soon. There’s already a Small Batch inside Williamson’s restaurant compound Playa Provisions.
This new Small Batch takes over for Sweet Lucie, which expanded from a truck into a storefront along Venice Boulevard back in 2015. That all came to an end recently though, as the shop closed for business sometime earlier this month. It’s some pretty prime Westside real estate, near The Mar Vista, Little Fatty, and all that the burgeoning area (including bustling nearby Palms) has to offer, so hopefully Small Batch is able to survive where some of the competition was not.
Williamson posted slyly about the spot to her nearly 50,000 Instagram followers over the weekend:
The shop has also posted a help wanted Craigslist ad up for a couple of days now, looking not only for front of house staffers but also experienced pastry leads. As for an opening, there’s no official timetable just yet, though something in early fall seems likely.
Small Batch is just the latest project from Williamson and Roberts. The pair has been keeping mostly to the Westside with their restaurant empire along the coast, most recently introducing casual poke shop Da Kikokiko to Playa Vista.
