Ria Dolly Barbosa returns

Since leaving her post at Go Get Em Tiger a couple of months ago, chef Ria Dolly Barbosa has been working around town doing pop-ups, or just sitting in with folks in their own restaurant kitchens. Now she’s up and running at Forage in Silver Lake, and will help to reshape one of the neighborhood’s most popular restaurants.

Forage currently works a menu of California classics, from salads to vegetable-heavy sandwiches. Barbosa tells Eater that she isn’t going to be drastically changing the place (same name, same concept), but will bring her own sourcing and sensibilities to the table in due time. For now you can catch her, headband and apron back on, working on some fun new stuff in her own new restaurant kitchen.

Know where to party

Bad-guy tech bro Martin Shkreli is going to prison, says LAist, so it’s important to know exactly which minimalist LA coffee shop will be best suited for celebrating the conviction. That’s why they’ve put together a ver tongue-in-cheek list of possibilities, from Maru in Los Feliz to Document Coffee Bar in Koreatown.

Koreatown’s newest

There’s a new dumpling spot in Koreatown these days called Youngoo’s. The shop sits at 301 S. Western Ave., an apparently keeps daily hours from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The return of Rocky Cola

Looks like a new tenant will take over for the former Rocky Cola in Montrose, says the Glendale News-Press. Though the previously beloved tenants have been gone for more than half a decade, newcomer Jeff Williams and his family are hoping to return the corner spot to a bit of glory with a new “family-oriented” restaurant to come next year.

Belcampo’s burger bash

Belcampo on West Third Street is celebrating two years in the game by dishing out $2 fast burgers from 2 p.m. until close on Friday, August 11. That is, until supplies last of course.

Burlesque brunch in Downtown

There’s a new brunch-and-a-show situation happening in Downtown on Sunday, August 27. It’s called Deviled Eggs, and it’s a jazzy, dancing affair with a full bar and brunch for $45 a head.

Kevin Bludso’s bird return

Kevin Bludso is mostly back in Texas these days, working on some new menu items for his future new Bludso’s location. In the meantime he’ll be traveling back to LA on Monday for a $20 dinner that includes everything from bacon-wrapped quail to smoked salt and pepper goose. There will be drink specials too.
