A Hip Valley Tea Bar Adds Beer and Wine at Surprising New DTLA Location

Teapop turns on the lights in a still-underdeveloped part of Downtown

Teapop, Downtown

Popular North Hollywood tea bar Teapop has expanded, opening up a bright new space on the southern edges of Downtown. Teapop is set to become something of an anchor for the neighborhood, tucked between the Fashion District and the Arts District in the southeast corner of the greater neighborhood — not far from places like Bestia, the ROW project, or Rossoblu, but certainly in a space all its own.

Up in North Hollywood, Teapop is known as an art-focused shop with room for laptop warriors and casual fans of tea. It’s a gallery-like space with a back patio and all-day hours, whereas the DTLA shop looks to double down on possible live performances and large pieces of art. The new Teapop takes over a big, glassy storefront, and has already outfitted the walls with bright colors and big textures, with room for tables, lounging areas, and more.

What’s more, Teapop DTLA will also offer an option to take bottles of beer and wine away as well. The place will still lean heavily on milk teas, loose leaf varieties imported from Taiwan, and beans from Groundwork Coffee, but the addition of beer and wine could be a game changer for locals looking to bring something home. Right now, hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The shop just opened last Tuesday, and is doing a buy-one-get-one promotion all month long.
