Enough meat for all

A pair of barbecue pop-ups are taking Los Angeles by storm this weekend, as the much-anticipated Pearl’s BBQ comes to Los Feliz and Moo’s Craft Barbecue takes on University Park.

The Pearl’s pop-up is happening Sunday outside of Caffe Vita in Los Feliz, right next to Rudy’s Barbershop where the old Howlin’ Ray’s truck used to squat. It’s from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., so expect coffee and brisket tacos. On Saturday, Moo’s is collaborating with coffee pop-up Cacique for a pre-USC throwdown. That event begins at 10 a.m.

Lucifer’s Pizza fires up in Hollywood

Looks like a third location for Lucifer’s Pizza in Hollwood. The spicy pizza creators are almost ready to fire things up inside Gower Gulch Plaza, with an opening scheduled for Tuesday.

Buy a piece of the past

The once-strong restaurant chain Farrell’s has fallen on hard times lately, with a planned auction happening in Riverside to liquidate many of the kitschy kid-friendly option’s most prized possessions. At one time a large chain that spread well across Southern California, now there are just a couple left, says the OC Register, though former fans can own a piece of the restaurant’s history.

Daniel Patterson x Taco Maria

There’s a fun dinner collaboration happening at Taco Maria later this month. SF chef Daniel Patterson is doing a night of cooking in celebration of his new book The Art of Flavor, and the five-course affair will run $200 a head — that includes drinks, tax, tip, and a copy of the book.

Salt & Straw parties

There’s a fun party happening at Salt & Straw in Larchmont, as the company celebrates three years of being in Los Angeles. They’re teaming up with neighbor Mr. Holmes Bakehouse for an ice cream sandwich invention, along with live music and games and stuff. The whole thing goes down Saturday, all day long.

Ten years young

Craft is ten years old in Los Angeles, which means it’s time for a party tonight. There’s a big shindig going down tonight with a number of awesome chefs including Ludo Lefebvre, Jon & Vinny, Jessica Koslow, and yes, Tom Colicchio. There are only a few seats left for the $265 affair.
