Eagle Rock will soon land a long-rumored bar and arcade operation along Eagle Rock Blvd. The project, likely to be called Connor’s Bar, lands at the front portion of a corner building that for years held an unassuming plumbing supply company.

As The Eastsider notes, the project is not fully realized just yet. Phase one was moving the original tenant, Connor’s Plumbing, to the back of the green and white shamrock-loving building. Phase two has been permitting, which The Refreshment Center LLC team behind the proposed bar is currently conducting now.

According to local neighborhood group The Eagle Rock Association, Connor’s Bar will seek to serve beer and wine in conjunction with ten “vintage arcade games”. There will also be patio space (though no loud noises, this is still Eagle Rock after all), and hours until 2 a.m. Plans also call for the incoming bar tenants to actually keep the original Connor’s sign on the building

The move to land a bar-arcade combo on the Eastside are certainly nothing new these days. Just a couple of miles away is the future home of East Coast chain Barcade (heading into the former El Arco Iris on York in Highland Park), and beyond that is Button Mash in Echo Park. Still the project bodes well for Occidental students and the younger influx landing in Eagle Rock lately; the scale of Connor’s Bar is small enough to be cozy and neighborhood-friendly, but not so large as to attract the kind of massive weekend drinking crowds that York Boulevard currently has — and that’s before the outdoor vegan beer hall comes to life.
