Take a look inside Winston Pies, the bright new sweets shop from so-called chief piesmith Brianna Abrams. Long a home baker with a big following under the name ButterCrust Pies, Abrams is now branching out into her first brick and mortar foray.

Winston Pies takes over the defunct M Cafe on San Vicente Boulevard. It’s a busy stretch with decent foot traffic, and within a few minutes’ walk in either direction from places like Toscana, Baltaire, and Pizzana. That makes Winston Pies a great post-meal stop for the early dinner crowd, particularly with hours that run to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.

Inside Winston Pies, expect a streamlined look with lots of gleaming white and blonde wood touches. There’s room for an espresso machine and a case for hand pies, mini-pies, pies by the slice, and whole rounds for takeaway as well. Expect classics like cherry and blueberry, plus seasonal cream pies, monthly specials, and a cranberry orange chess pie option.

Winston Pies officially opens Saturday, keeping hours from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Sunday’s hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
