Chicken rice for all
One of China’s most popular restaurant chains is making landfall in Tustin this month. Yang’s Braised Chicken Rice first came to prominence in China’s Shandong Province back in 2011, serving a secret recipe of slowly-cooked chicken with special sauce and vegetables. They’ve since grown to thousands of locations, though this Tustin outlet will remain corporate-owned. The grand opening party for Yang’s at 13824 Red Hill Avenue in Tustin will happen on September 10.
Blossom to Santa Monica
There’s more Vietnamese food in Santa Monica now, thanks to Blossom. Toddrickallen says the burgeoning local mini-chain quietly opened at 2821 Ocean Park Blvd.
New sandwiches
There are a bunch of new sandwiches coming to Prime Pizza soon, including a roast pork iteration that seems pretty spot-on. The sandwiches will feature prominently not only at the Fairfax location but the restaurant’s new storefront space in Little Tokyo.
Spencer says goodbye
Looks like a loss for L&E Oyster Bar, as longtime chef Spencer Bezaire is heading to Seattle. That’s according to LA Weekly, who says Bezaire is heading north — much like Perfecto Rocher a few years ago — with is wife Sabrina, who was the wine director for L&E as well.
Boba life
There’s a lot to know about the enduring boba trend, especially as it continues to change and morph over the years. Despite The NY Times’s insistence that boba teas are brand new, The Pasadena Star News is not only giving the product its enduring due, it’s discussing the future of the stuff across the greater SGV.
Otium x Tel Aviv x Tartine
There’s an awesome dinner happening tonight at Otium, with The Tel Aviv Issue and Tartine both coming to town. Chef Roy Ner will collaborate with Timothy Hollingsworth and Chad Robertson for an $85-a-head family-style meal filled with Israeli favorites, starting at 5:30 p.m.
The stars align
Looks like things are going to be busy early for Dialogue in Santa Monica, at least if Zac Efron has anything to say about it. The Dave Beran-backed tasting menu counter opens for business just off the Third Street Promenade today, but some celebs apparently got an early taste of the place over the weekend.
