There’s a cute new cafe to know about on the Westside today, as Great White takes up residence practically underneath the iconic hanging Venice sign. Chef Alex Thomopoulos has a penchant for keeping things healthy, which means a menu that should play perfectly with the neighborhood’s surf and sun aesthetic.

As the below menu shows, Great White offers a tight breakfast and lunch look filled with everything from avocado toast to smoothie bowls. There is a place for heartier fare, including a $9 breakfast burrito with tater tots and bacon. The lunch side leans towards grain bowls and salads, with a fried chicken sandwich, fish tacos, and a burger thrown in for good measure. There’s also coffee from Australian brand Vittoria (including matcha and flat whites, of course), specialty shakes with turmeric, teas, smoothies, and on-tap kombucha available.

On the design side, Australian owners Sam Trude and Sam Cooper keep things clean and bright with 18-foot ceilings and lots of natural wood. There’s the requisite hanging bulbs and exposed, painted brick. The primary feature of the place is a dual-opening panel that slides away to show the airy streetscape beyond.

Great White opens today, keeping hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
