Just in time for NFL kickoff (and only a week into college football’s run) comes news that Los Angeles’s own Smorgasburg will be popping up at the LA Coliseum all season long. That means for both USC Trojans and LA Rams games, attendees will get to sample from a collection of Smorgasburg vendors cooking right on site.
Functionally, there isn’t likely to be much difference between what Smorgasburg has been doing for more than a year at the ROW project in Downtown and this new weekend-only pop-up at the LA Coliseum. Four of the more popular vendors will be stationed at Gate 16, just beyond the seats, serving up eats to anyone passing by before kickoff, as well as the usual crush of halftime diners.
The confirmed lineup for this new Smorgasburg at the LA Coliseum includes Lobsterdamus, the seafood purveyors who will be doing daily lobster nachos. There’s also Cheezus rocking grilled cheese, Black Sugar Rib Co. doing barbecue, and Rooster Republic offering chicken fingers, with a Dave’s Hot Chicken-esque option to make them Nashville hot.
Expect Smorgasburg to stick around at the Coliseum all season long, through both USC and Rams games. Given the popularity of Smorgasburg as an ongoing weekly feast in Downtown, it may be best for anyone eager to try their stuff to leave some extra time for long lines.
