The developers of Hollywood’s forthcoming Godfrey Hotel hope to finish the eight-story building by spring 2019. The site is right in the middle of Hollywood, just one block south of the soon-to-be shuttered Amoeba Records. And it already has a food tenant, a Chicago steakhouse called About Last Knife.

Curbed LA reports the 220 room hotel has some attractive amenities. Considering all the development throughout the area, businesses require some extra enticement. The Godfrey is hoping a rooftop bar, pool, and a hot new steakhouse should do the trick. About Last Knife is brand new, having recently opened its first location inside Chicago’s Hotel Julian on October 5. The mid-western location serves hangar steak and eggs for breakfast, and beef Wellington by the slice for dinner.

Godfrey’s addition marks a hefty shift for the neighborhood. The area is largely devoted to industrial spaces and post-production suites, and is located a few blocks away from retail. There aren’t many hotels adjacent to the Godfrey construction site, even through many are concentrated north of Sunset Boulevard. An additional hotel is on the way though. The Sunset Boulevard Jack in the Box is about to be demolished and replaced with the art-deco Ivar Gardens, a 275-room hotel with a rooftop pool. It’s unknown when Ivar Gardens plans to finish construction.
