Whiskey fans eager for a taste of the rare stuff can get to Gabi James in Redondo Beach on Monday, December 3 for a full-flight tasting of some Pappy Van Winkle. The hard-to-source whiskey label is routinely considered to be among the best of its kind, with aficionados chasing rare bottles and bygone reserves all over the globe.
This new Pappy Van Winkle dinner goes down on Monday, December 3, as part of a larger five-course from chef Chris Feldmeier. The former Mozza and Moruno alum is now running the show at both Gabi James in Redondo Beach and sister restaurant Love & Salt in Manhattan Beach, and will be turning out a soulful (and rather rich) menu that includes options like grilled quail with bacon and foie gras stuffing, plus tomahawk-style pork chops and housemade ice cream for dessert.
The drinks are the star of $350 show though, with pours of Old Rip Van Winkle 10 year, and special family bourbon reserves running 15, 20, and 23 years old. The Gabi James night starts at 7 p.m. and the price is all-inclusive, just know that there are only 25 slots available. Contact the restaurant directly for a seat.
