After a brief delay, Brentwood’s new neighborhood hangout finally opened yesterday. Thunderbird brings a dazzling Southwestern touch to the former Bar Food space featuring a full Tex-Mex menu, weekly karaoke, plenty of quality mezcal and tequila, along with PBR buckets.
With eight TVs, Thunderbird seems like an ideal place to catch a Dodger game, especially since the team has begun its playoff run. Patrons can choose from the bar list and sit in the slightly distressed leather booths among desert landscaped walls, hanging cacti, and adobe tiles.
As expected, the food comes straight from the Four Corners, with chile con queso, puffy tacos, nachos, and chicharones. It’ll develop more in the weeks to come. The Thunderbird’s drink menu goes for classics, some originals, a slushy mint julep, and 14 beers on draft. Hours run 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Thunderbird. 12217 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90025.
