Woolsey Fire Completely Destroys Agoura Hills Restaurant and Wine Bar

Two Agoura Hills businesses are the latest casualties from the massive Woolsey Fire. Sip Malibu Grapes and Kristy’s Roadhouse Malibu were reduced to ashes on Friday. The only remains are the Kristy’s Roadhouse sign amid the charred site.

SIP and Kristy’s were on the corner of Kanan and Sierra Creek in Agoura Hills. The two were separately owned, but operated in friendly-tandem over the years. SIP customers ordered food from Kristy’s, and delivered straight to SIP’s tasting room when ready.

Kristy’s opened in summer 2017 overlooking Zuma Beach with a primarily barbecue menu. SIP reopened its tasting room in 2015, stocking its shelves with wines from Malibu vintners. SIP started a GoFundMe to assist with recovery costs.

As of today, no Malibu restaurants were reported lost in the fire. But the entire Malibu wine region took a serious hit as many were in the Woolsey Fire’s path. The area exploded with growers when designated 45,000 acres as an official wine growing region in 2014. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Malibu vineyards span across 200 acres. Current reports show the Woolsey Fire has destroyed 97,620 acres.

SIP Malibu Grapes owner Ken Fasola left the following message on his website:

It is with sorrow and regret that our beloved wine bar, SIP Malibu Grapes, was one of the many casualties of the recent fires in Malibu. On Friday morning, raging fires raced through the area taking SIP and our neighbor Kristy’s Roadhouse Malibu completely out, burned to the ground. We are grateful that no one was there and everyone is safe, although a lot of good wine met its fate in a manner it was not meant for.
