A quiet newcomer is set to open soon inside of a prominent space along 7th Street in Downtown Los Angeles. The name of the inbound restaurant is Moa Kitchen, but the plan for the place is still very much up in the air.
According to the company’s young website, the plan is to serve a variety of pan-Asian foods, but what precisely that means for the menu isn’t known. Craigslist ads for kitchen help describe a master sushi chef — while also calling Moa Kitchen “one of the trendiest / tastiest new restaurant openings” in Downtown LA. There’s also a city paper trail showing a license for a full bar, and hints at an attached project to be called Ahn Bar at some point as well. Other than that, Moa Kitchen’s Instagram page is woefully empty, and emails to owner Kyung Geun Pak have not been returned.
Regardless of the ultimate direction or opening timeline, it seems that Moa Kitchen will have its work cut out right from the start. First there’s the space (which formerly belonged to Guild) and surrounding neighborhood, both of which have seen plenty of change in recent years. Second, there’s a ton of direct pan-Asian competition already, from names like the new Kues and the sprawling Li Orient. Got more details on Moa Kitchen? Hit the tipline, anonymity guaranteed.
