Culver City is set for a big new injection of French flavor, thanks to the Palisociety team and developer Grifka Group. The pair partnered up for the new Palihotel Culver City which will debut next month, and along with the property comes Simonette, a cozy new all-day French bistro.
The new Simonette should be ready to run right before New Years, with Curbed LA noting a December 29 opening date for the “modern and bohemian” hotel. The property is located on Van Buren Place, less than a block off Downtown, and within walking distance of the Culver Steps development, where Amazon Studios will be eventually be located.
The restaurant itself is built to be the all-day player for Palihotel Culver City, offering breakfast through dinner to hotel guests and locals alike. Palisociety group chef Joey Elenterio is behind the menu, which will weave through classics like nicoise salad to steak frites and risotto. There will be simple daytime fare for faster lunching, and a central Parisian-influenced cocktail bar in the middle of the dining area. Simonette will also offer some outdoor seating as well, much like bistro contemporaries like Barbette in West Hollywood.
The arrival of Simonette comes at an interesting time for greater Culver City. Downtown has historically struggled to hold on to restaurant tenants, but the new Ms. Chi cafe is doing well alongside five-year-old restaurant The Wallace. Meanwhile the Platform development further east continues to suck up a ton of talent, from Hayden to Roberta’s to the incoming rooftop rocker Margot. Expect an opening for Simonette at the end of December.
