The rumor mill
Chef Johnny Ray Zone of Howlin’ Ray’s is on Instagram asking some specific questions, namely: Should Chinatown’s insanely popular Nashville-style hot chicken spot open up in Pasadena next? Zone and wife/partner Amanda Zone recently moved to the city and, having backed away from other deals that would have kept them too far away from day-to-day operations, they’re wondering aloud whether their new community could support greater LA’s second-ever Howlin’. Of course an expansion to Pasadena wouldn’t help the Westsiders much, as Zone’s Instagram comments make abundantly clear.

got your attention??? Leo al pastor works like a charm every time. so some of y’all might already know that Amanda and I recently moved to Pasadena. It was our first time moving in 7 or 8 years and I got to admit I’m loving it here so far. It’s a direct shot to Howlin and it feels like you’re in a small community but you’re still so close to LA. Being here now rly got me thinking about the idea of opening the next Howlin here before opening a Westside shop. It’s something where I know that we could manage the standards of both spots simultaneously without the bones of Howlin having to change. Curious what my friends and fam think about this before I start to think deeper into it. So lmk, what do u think? Let me have it #keepithowlin
