Who was the best chef in LA in 2018?

H. Armstrong Roberts/ClassicStock

Welcome to the 2018 Eater Awards, the ninth year that Eater LA will honor the city’s best and most talented restaurants, chefs, and other hospitality experts from around the world.

All 24 cities will grant prizes in different categories, from Restaurant of the Year, Chef of the Year, and Design of the Year. In each category, Eater editors will make their pick while the Reader’s Choice will be up to you, the avid Eater reader, to decide. All winners will be announced on December 5.

Yesterday was Restaurant of the Year, and the polling is now closed. Today, we decide the Chef of the Year. First up, we have Minh Phan, who finally opened a full service version of her popular Porridge & Puffs. Aitor Zabala has been cooking for years at Saam and debuted Somni this year inside the SLS hotel. Keith Corbin overcame a difficult past to become the executive chef of Alta Adams. Teresa Montaño unleashed her first project, Otoño, into bustling Highland Park while Ria Barbosa has been helming the ever-excellent Paramount Coffee Project in Downtown’s ROW. Vote now until around noon tomorrow. Any tampering or cheating will not be tolerated.
