The Woolsey Fire-damaged area is on edge after digging itself out of muddy damage from yesterday’s rain. And though firefighters fully contained the Woolsey Fire on November 21, residents and business owners are still determining the extent of damage to their properties. Malibu Wines tasting room closed the day the fire began, and in an incredible stroke of luck, only sustained minor structural damage. It will still need repairs, leaving the tasting room closed for at least a few months.
Malibu Wines and recently-opened Mon-Li both saw property damage from the massive blaze that started on November 9. It is unclear when Malibu Wines tasting room will return, and Mon-Li owner Matthew Biancaniello estimates its reopening in the spring.
No one was hurt at the tasting room or the adjacent Saddlerock Ranch, but there was a massive outcry over the company’s decision to leave large animals behind during the blaze.
While the tasting room rebuilds, the West Hills Malibu Wines and Beer Garden opened on a historic property in early September. CEO and founder of Malibu Wines, Ronnie Semler provided a statement about the tasting room damage:
Malibu Wines, a popular, family-owned Tasting Room was struck by the Woolsey Fire on Friday, November 9th. The tasting room was closed that day due to emergency, mandatory evacuations, and all staff and guests weren’t on premise.
First and foremost, we’re happy to report that our staff and team are safe and well. The Tasting Room has minimal structural damage and many of the beloved fixtures still remain intact. Due to the minimal on-site damage we are currently closed. We look forward to the future to rebuild and welcome guests back very soon. We will continue to work hard to preserve our beautiful land and offer a safe haven and retreat for our wonderful neighbors, locals, and out of town visitors.
Please stay tuned for more information and details on the re-opening of Malibu Wines Tasting Room. In the meantime, guests can visit our sister tasting room, Malibu Wines & Beer Gardens located in West Hills.
